It’s funny how an item’s value can fluctuate over time. This Confederate dollar bill was worth $1 in 1862. Two years later, when the South’s cause was looking particularly bleak, it dropped to three cents. By the end of the war in April 1865, they were worth more as fire kindling. Last summer, I paid $20 for it at an antique store.
